A 33-year-old man from Bulawayo’s Mpopoma suburb yesterday went berserk, split the skull of his estranged wife and chopped off her hands before trying to commit suicide by slitting his wrists.
He also allegedly attempted to hang himself.
The spine-chilling incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of yesterday when the couple fought over an undisclosed issue.
The woman, Mrs Miriam Takavingofa Nyoni (34), a mother of two children aged five and six, was brutally killed exactly four days after women in Bulawayo joined the rest of the world in celebrating International Women’s Day.
Her husband, Goodman Nyoni, was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital after sustaining injuries after failing to commit suicide.
Mashonaland dominate junior swimming championships
Harare BureauMASHONALAND province proved to be the powerhouse in the National Junior Swimming Championships when they retained their title as the champions at Les Brown Pool yesterday.
