POLICE in Nyanga have launched a manhunt for two suspects from Mazarura Village, in connection with the theft of 11 cattle from Jani Village, Katerere.

The fugitives, Wellington Mupezeni and one Nigel, allegedly stole cattle valued at US$2 000, from Edmore Nyapimbi (56) on May 7, together with Sylvester Tembo, who has since been arrested.

Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka said: “On May 8, Nyapimbi visited Chiwake homestead, and around 6am, his niece, Tariro Nyapimbi, discovered that their cattle were missing. She immediately informed Nyapimbi’s wife, who promptly reported the incident to ZRP Ruwangwe.”

The police launched an investigation, and quickly established the stolen cattle had been sold to Edson Gotekote, in Samba village for US$1 740.

All the stolen cattle were recovered at Tembo’s homestead enroute to Gotekote.

About US$500 was recovered from Tembo, which is believed to be his share from the sales.

Tembo was immediately arrested, and implicated Mupezeni and Nigel, who are still on the run.
