A 36-YEAR-OLD man from Tsholotsho in Matabeleland North province who was employed as a domestic worker shocked villagers after he was caught red-handed while naked raping a female goat.
Leonard Moyo of Dugwi Line in Chefunye, was busted after the animal’s owner was alerted by unusual noises coming from the goat pen in the dead of the night.
The goat was reportedly bleating uncontrollably, prompting its owner to investigate.
For the offence, Moyo appeared before Tsholotsho resident magistrate Mr Maxwell Ncube charged with bestiality.
He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment, with three months suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
The remaining six months were suspended on condition that he completes 315 hours of community service.
The complainant, Sithabile Moyo (52), told the court that on 02 July at around 1am she was awakened by unusual noises coming from her goat pen.
Suspecting that something was wrong, she went outside to investigate and saw Leonard inside the enclosure.
She immediately alerted her brother-in-law, Edward Moyo, who, together with his son, Thobukani Moyo, rushed to the scene.
When the trio arrived at the goat pen, they found Leonard stark naked inside the enclosure while engaging in a sexual act with a white female goat.
According to court proceedings, Leonard’s pair of jeans and underwear had been placed on top of the goat pen poles, while his shoes and socks were found inside the enclosure.
The witnesses confronted him and asked him why he was committing the act, but he reportedly remained silent.
The matter was reported to ZRP Chefunye, leading to Leonard’s arrest.
