Caught offside…DeMbare faction boss’ wild proposal rejected

A DYNAMOS faction leader came up with a shocking proposal, to try and sideline principal sponsors from all matters related to the ownership structure at the club.

However, his proposal was shot down by his constituency, who said they were comfortable with the role the sponsors were playing in trying to bring sanity into the Glamour Boys’ leadership structures.

The DeMbare leadership terrain has been a playground for factional fights, for years, which have even spilled into the country’s highest courts.

H-Metro is in possession of a proposal by DeMbare faction leader to try and elbow the principal sponsors from issues related to the club’s leadership structure.

This is contained in a proposal for a Board of Trustees meeting, which was supposed to be held on July 8, this year.

However, the decision by the majority of the members, to shoot down the proposal, and embrace the participation of the sponsors, meant the indaba could not go ahead as scheduled.

According to the proposal, the meeting was meant to:

• To review and ratify the meeting held with the Electoral College.

• To consider the adoption of the following recommendations from a meeting held with the Electoral College.

(a) That the Board should discontinue to rely on the Sponsor on issues key to the ownership of the Club.

(b) That the Board should discontinue discussing with the Sponsor issues regarding the Dynamos (Pvt) Ltd Shares.

(c) That the Board should take appropriate disciplinary action against unruly or inept Board members.

(d) That the Chairman (Ernest Kamba) should be allowed to guide the Board and his role should be defined clearly.

(e) That Henry Chari be appointed on the Board in place of (Makwinji) Soma-Phiri who has failed to attend a single meeting since his appointment due to work pressure.”

“We rejected this proposal because we felt that the sponsors have brought sanity to our club and they should be supported, instead of being sidelined,” one of the members told H-Metro.

“We felt that the chairman was now losing the plot and things got really bad and the chairman stormed out of the meeting.

“We have made it clear to him that the process, to try and ensure sanity returns to the club, should continue and the sponsors have a very big role to play in it.”
