CBC edge Milton in schools rugby

CHRISTIAN Brothers College ended their rugby season with a hard fought victory over Milton in a Matabeleland schools traditional rugby fixture played at Hartsfield Rugby Ground in Bulawayo yesterday.

In a match between the two best rugby playing schools in the city, it was a tight affair without much separating the two teams.
CBC went ahead with seven minutes played, flyhalf Jarryd Brown slotting in a penalty goal to put the Hornets 3-0 ahead. Skipper Justin Mendelsohn scored the first try for CBC which was converted by Brown.

Scrumhalf Zane Pittaway gave CBC their second try with a sprint through to score under the posts, the conversion kick from Brown making it 17-0 to CBC.

Milton hit back with a penalty goal scored by Tanaka Chifaka and an unconverted try from centre Terrence Ncube.
In the second half, CBC stretched their lead with a second penalty goal, booted in by Brown.

Milton responded with a try from flank Macintosh Muzamba which was converted by Chifaka.
CBC soon had their third try, hooker Tinotenda Msasanure going over the line but Brown missed the conversion kick.

Milton scored their third try with a few minutes to go, lock Kelvin Ncube exploiting a gap to go over under the posts with the conversion kick booted in by Chifaka.

The last few minutes were tense but CBC managed to hold on for a win which extended their dominance over Milton.
