CCC’s Zengeza East legislator Goodrich Chimbaira and his three brothers have appeared before the courts for allegedly assaulting their churchmate and leader following a misunderstanding.

Goodrich (37), Phillip Chimbaira, Agrippa Shadreck Chimbaira (34) and Jericho Chimbaira (31) appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Mrs Winfilder Tiatara charged with assault.

The case was remanded to November 26 for trial commencement.

Mr Meki Jotamu is the complainant. Goodrich and Mr Jotamu knew each other for a long time prior to the case since they reside in the same neighbourhood and worship together at the Gospel of God Church.

The State alleges that on October 8, at around 1930 hours, a misunderstanding arose when Mr Jotamu was about to leave the church in Unit E, Seke, Chitungwiza where he conducts their prayers as usual.

The suspects were outside the church premise when they confronted Mr Jotamu and a misunderstanding ensued, leading to the assault.
