A  HARARE man appeared in court for allegedly defrauding Bakers Inn clients of US$4,612.

Chenjerai Shiri, who is facing fraud charges, appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Dennis Mangosi.

Shiri was not asked to plead to the charges.

He allegedly received payments from multiple customers, including Zimbiru Express Shop, Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, Mungate Express Shop, and Defence Forces Artillery Headquarters, but did not deliver the bread ordered.

This, according to the prosecution ,happened between 29 October 2023 and  25 March 2024.

Shiri generated fake invoices using a mobile machine, misrepresenting his routes and converting the payments to his personal use.

The complainant, Innscor Africa (Pvt) Ltd Superlinx Logistics T/A Bakers Inn, discovered the theft when credit clients approached them.

Shiri charged Blessing Kasambira of Zimbiru Express Shop, Domboshava a total of US$1 790 but did not deliver any bread.

Using the same method he charged Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals US$1,399.65 but did not deliver the bread and converted the money to his                             own use.

He also made Mungate Shop pay US$790  but did not deliver any bread as well as Defence Forces Artillery Headquarters who paid him US$623 without delivering any bread.

Shiri was granted US$200 bail and returns to court on January 10, 2025.

A total of US$4,612 was lost in the scam and nothing was recovered.
