adminLONDON. — Petr Cech has revealed that he wants to start playing without his helmet — but has been blocked from doing so by doctors. The Arsenal keeper has been wearing the protective headgear ever since suffering a fractured skull playing for Chelsea against Reading in 2006. But Cech (33) revealed he was told not to take his head-wear off for insurance reasons — even though it has affected his hearing.
He said: “I would be more confident if I had it off. If you like it or not, the helmet affects your surroundings.
“You have your ears covered and it makes hearing worse. But the doctor has forbidden me to take off the helmet. If I did, I would not pay insurance.” Meanwhile, Cech admits he has been stunned by Chelsea’s dismal start to the season. The 33-year-old spent nine years at Stamford Bridge before joining Arsenal in a surprise deal last summer. — The Mirror.
