Zimbabwe karatekar sensei Justice “Ceejay” Mutyoramwendo successfully defended his title at the 7th Limpopo Shinkyokushinkai Annual Championship last weekend.
Sensei Ceejay was the only Zimbabwean representative at this year’s tournament where he was also crowned African champion.
He claimed first position in the Men’s Open division defending his previously held regional title.
“It was a tight contest and I am proud to bring home the trophy for my country.
“I am happy I defended my title and to be crowned an African champion after a stiff competition in South Africa means a lot to me and my family,” said sensei Ceejay.
The tournament was open to all Shinkyokushinkai practitioners with only a few challengers on the African title.
Sensei Ceejay is a karate instructor at GMRI Academy Private School in Belvedere.
His success comes at a time when 23-member Taekwondo Academy members also participated at the inaugural Ace Tournament at Boskruin Community Centre in Randburg, South Africa at the weekend.
