TWO Chegutu women, who went missing after going to fetch firewood at a nearby farm, have been found dead.

Mashonaland West Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Ian Kohwera, told H-Metro that ZRP Chegutu is investigating circumstances leading to the death of two women Sekesai Antonio 59, of house no P808 Pfupajena, Chegutu, and Alice Zhuwao,54, of P806.

Kohwera said Antonio and Zhuwao left their residential places on September 6 2024 to fetch firewood at Stockday Farm at around 9 am.

“The two did not return home, prompting family members to conduct a search in the farm but to no avail.

“A missing report was lodged at Police Pfupajena by Kenias Mbewe of P725 Chegutu,” said Kohwera.

He said the search continued until September 8 at around 10 am, when the search team discovered their bodies in the bush within the farm.

They were 100 metres apart.

“The body of Antonio had a deep cut on the head and bruises all over the neck, arms, and both legs with signs that she might have been sexually abused while that of Zhuwao had also a deep cut on the head,” said Kohwera.

He said their tools for fetching firewood were also found near the bodies

The bodies were ferried to Chegutu Hospital for post-mortem.

“This is a sad and disturbing case. Police are appealing for information that can assist investigations to arrest the suspect.

“Anyone with information can approach the nearest police station,” said Kohwera.
