IN a bid to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Zimbabwe, MC Fortue Chihota said the show “Our Dream Wedding Zim Edition” will focus on all aspects of marriage.

She said in a modern society, some people may not be familiar with traditional Zimbabwean wedding customs, which is why the Our Dream Wedding Zim Edition seeks to showcase roora (lobola), kupinzwa mumusha kwemukuwasha (introducing the bride to the groom’s family), and kutambira mwenga, also known as kupururudza, (welcoming the bride).

The show which recently aired their first episode on Facebook, was inspired by a blend of traditional Zimbabwean culture and modern wedding trends.

In an interview with Zimpapers Entertainment Hub, MC Fortue said the show will also feature expert advice from wedding planners, providing valuable insights and planning tips for couples planning their special day.

The show is being hosted by MC Fortue and MC Shumbakadzi and the main aim is to highlight unique contemporary and traditional themes and provide a platform for couples and wedding enthusiasts to explore the beauty of Zimbabwean weddings.

“Viewers can expect to see the lobola ceremony, planning of the white wedding, the ceremony itself and also the kupururudzwa ceremony (welcoming the bride). These customs are an integral part of Zimbabwean culture and the show aims to educate and entertain audiences while celebrating these traditions. We are also working with Becky Bridal Boutique for videographers.

“The unique part about our show is that it’s not only going to focus on white weddings but also on traditional weddings from different Zimbabwean dialects and cultures, how they conduct their lobola and kupinza muroora mumusha.

“The show is for everyone because of the wide range of content.

“Couples sharing their personal wedding stories and experiences.

“By celebrating the beauty of Zimbabwean weddings, the Zim Wedding Edition aims to bring people together and promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of the country’s rich cultural heritage.”
