A LOCAL movie director, who prides himself for having worked with many Zimbabwean celebrities, is now eyeing the international market.
Takudzwa Duncan is working on the release of his international television series Ngoda, next month.
“When we made Ngoda Season 01, we made sure it meets international standards, with each episode being 40 plus minutes long.
“Ngoda has five languages including sign language, not as a subtitle but as an official language to accommodate everyone.
“We also featured the current Mr Deaf, Marvin Mawuyu.
“The film also has more than 10 guest stars, including music sensation Ti Gonzi, and it will be streamed worldwide from March 2023,” he said.
Duncan’s intention is to prove wrong stereotypes that say Zimbabwean film makers are incapable of making international films without sponsorship.
“There are people who believe that Zimbabwean filmmakers cannot make a film for the global market without a sponsor.
“Through this film, I want to change that perception and also inspire other filmmakers that it can be done as I made the film without a sponsor,” said Duncan.
He also spoke about how the film is very educational as it looks into issues of drug abuse, peer pressure, crime, gender balance, disability inclusion and mental health.
“We created a film with real stories people can actually relate to.
“We looked at the prevailing issues in our societies and we put it in the form of a film.
“Honestly, it’s not easy making a Television Series of that magnitude, working with a cast of 120 people is not an easy thing but seeing everything come to life on screen is a dream come true.
“The feeling is just too much to put in any vocabulary.”
