Whether you are vowing to do something better, get slimmer or give more in 2013 celebrities have related to that too.

Celebrities make New Year’s resolutions just like the rest of us, but since they’re already skinny and buff, they have to think a little harder about what they need to achieve.
But, there are a few who are going out of the box with their 2013 vows.

From acting, music, religion to modelling, lots of people makes New Year’s resolutions, usually to boost and promote their relevant field.
Saturday Lifestyle caught up with some local stars who shared their New Year’s resolutions:

Jah Prayzah (musician)
Born Mukudzei Mukombe, the affable crooner has carved his name in the music circle. 2012 has been a successful year for him and his song “Chirangano Cherudo” was voted the best song on Radio Zimbabwe’s Coca-Cola Top 50.
“Gochi Gochi” and “Maria” also made it into the top five. Jah Prayzah said: “My focus will never change, it is always on my musical career, but I also have other personal interests that I can’t disclose at this point in time.”

Wicknell Chivayo (socialite and businessman)
One of the country’s youngest millionaires, businessman Wicknell “B.I.G” Chivayo who has interests in the haulage industry said his New Year’s resolution is to do more community service.

“My 2013 resolution is to concentrate more on charity work and to help the less privileged. I have realised that I don’t look for money but money looks for me, so all my wealth is God engineered and it is wise to give back to the community.

“I am not worried about negative speculation on the streets from the ignorant and less fortunate majority because it’s based on hearsay.”

Nelson Chamisa (minister)
Born in February1978, Information Communication Technology Minister Nelson Chamisa, an articulate orator in his own right, says: “2013 is a year of building our relationship with God, fellowmen and building our country and its political institutions,” he said.

He said ICT in Zimbabwe would continue to spread and grow. “Everything should be on internet”.

Pokello Nare (fashionista and socialite)
Pokello owns a shoe shop at Sam Levy’s Village in Borrowdale called Addicted to Shoes.
“People judge with no understanding or consideration. In 2013, whether you demean or label negatively, one thing you can not change is my success. This year, I call it, ‘Unapologetic Year’. No regrets and having just signed two major endorsements, everything I touch will turn to gold,” said Pokello who is in Hong Kong on a holiday.

Genius Kadungure (businessman)
The youthful entrepreneur whose company Gas Works is growing in and outside the country  said the New Year is a year of opportunities.

“I would want to encourage all young people to work hard for a better future and focus more on positive and growth of the country.
“2013 is my year of good business and expansion henceforth creating employment to the nation.”

Mercy Mushaninga
(modelling agency director)
Mercy runs a successful modelling agency.
She said her new resolution is to host a successful beauty pageant for Africa “Miss Curvy Africa”. “I have already started working on realising this resolution, starting with Miss Curvy Malawi in April. I want to continue with my role of promoting young girls in modelling. I believe if given a chance, women can run the world.”

Charles Chipanga
(gospel musician and songwriter)
The musician said he is ready for 2013.
“As an artiste, it’s obvious music comes first. Together with my wife Namatai, we are working on releasing a scorcher of an album followed by a live DVD. These are our major projects and we promise to do more public shows than corporate functions that we were more into.”
“I promise myself to grow into a better person.”

Dr Phillip Chiyangwa
(philanthropist and business mogul)
Flamboyant businessman Phillip Chiyangwa said he is the trendsetter for 2013.
“My life changes from time to time. This year I am the trendsetter. I have achieved what I have because I have no fear when I think of doing something I do it with no hesitation. The Grace of the Lord, blessings and favour have kept me going.

“2013 is the year of God’s blessing. I want to achieve more success in my business and I also want all my protégés, partners and all others to achieve success. I look forward to do more philanthropic work and expand my territory.”

Emmanuel Makandiwa
(prophet and spiritual father)
According Makandiwa’s personal assistant, Pastor Prime Kufa, the prophet doesn’t have New Year’s resolutions. “Basically as a man of God we try to bring about solutions. We don’t have any resolutions but we do according to God’s will. 2013 is the year for divine solutions, bringing change,” he said.

Beverly Sibanda (professional dancer)
The dancer said she has many plans for 2013.
“I have new things that I would unveil when the time is ready. Fans should wait as I have many great new plans for this year.”

According to her manager Harpers Mapimhidze this year is full of surprises.
“Right now, Bev is on break for two weeks. This year is bigger and better as she wants to venture into music and has new dance routines too that will be unveiled in shows to come.”
