CELLMED Health Medical Fund recently donated foodstuffs to Diocese of Mutare Community Care Programme towards empowering health and sustainable development initiatives in Manicaland. The donated goods which include maize-meal, cooking oil, sugar and milk among other items were meant to be distributed among DMCPP’s primary beneficiaries who are people living with HIV, orphans and vulnerable children, including youths and people living with disabilities.
Cellmed is a subsidiary of Cell Insurance Company and one of the few companies that offer self funded medical aid solutions.
It is a medical aid which is administered through a fund set aside by the company on behalf of its employees and elected beneficiaries or any organised grouping with the vision of unlocking stakeholder value through innovative health solutions.
DOMCCP has been one of Cellmed’s major customers for the past two years.
Speaking at the handover ceremony at St Joseph’s DOMCCP offices, Cellmed sales membership manager, Mrs Sarudzai Nyakutambwa, said it was their first time to donate to an institution in Manicaland.
“DOMCCP has been our customer for two years now and this is our first donation in Manicaland following several others that we have made in Midlands, Mashonaland Central and Mashonaland East provinces. Our company is still growing, but DOMCCP is welcome to ask for anything that they might be in need of to assist people with HIV, orphans and vulnerable children, including youths and people living with disabilities,” said Mrs Nyakutambwa.
She added that the donations were not restricted to their customers only, but any other individuals and organisations in Zimbabwe.
DMCCP monitoring and evaluation manager, Ms Silindile Baudi, said: “Cellmed has gone beyond just being a medical institution that we work with. They have reached out to the beneficiaries of our health programmes and we are very grateful.”
DMCCP runs health related programmes focusing primarily on improving community access to quality health, food security and increasing household disposable income and social protection and building community capacity to respond top health related issues.
The mobilise their beneficiaries into groups to receive the support through various project interventions supported by well defined structure that stretches from their head office down to village level.
It operates in Chipinge, Mutare, Makoni, Nyanga and Chimanimani districts.
