THE Zifa Central Region management has postponed its half yearly review meeting.
However, the move to switch the date to a yet to be announced date from last weekend, has not gone down well with clubs.In a letter addressed to the league’s affiliates, the league’s board member responsible for administration, Stanley Chapeta advised the clubs that the mid season review meeting had been postponed indefinitely.
Chapeta confirmed this to Chronicle Sport but could not elaborate on the reasons why the meeting had been called off.
“We have postponed indefinitely the mid season review meeting but it will now be held during the course of the second half of the season,” he said.
However, league affiliates contend that the review meeting should have been held to iron out some outstanding issues before the second half of the season resumes.
“How can we start the second half of the season when we still have outstanding issues that need to be resolved before we resume the league? As Gweru City we are aggrieved as we still feel that Zvishavane Stars’ co-option in the league was done against a resolution by clubs that no club should be allowed after the season has started,” fumed Malvern Paradza, the Gweru City secretary-general.
Gaths Mine secretary, Collins Munemo also weighed in and said there were still issues to be resolved before the league could resume.
He could not however, disclose some of his club’s concerns.
The Mashava based side is one of the teams which lost points after failing to fulfill a rescheduled fixture against Tongogara because the bus they were travelling in developed a mechanical problem along the way to Gweru.
Gaths Mine subsequently appealed against the ruling arguing that the league management had no jurisdiction to deal with legal matters which should be dealt by the league’s disciplinary committee as outlined in the region’s constitution.
