ZIMDANCEHALL artiste Felix “Centre Party” Debwe yesterday approached the maintenance court seeking a variation of his maintenance payments for his ex-wife and three children from $170 to $80 a month.He told Bulawayo magistrate Sheunesu Matova that he wanted the maintenance reduced because his ex-wife Olley Mabanga was not using it to buy food for the children.
Centre Party said he now wanted to buy groceries himself so that his children are guaranteed food.
“Neighbours have been reporting that the children have been begging for food yet I’ve been paying her $170 every month,” he said.
In response Mabanga said she was surprised that her ex-husband wanted the maintenance reviewed downwards yet the $170 was not enough to meet the family’s basic needs.
“I’ve told him that the money isn’t enough but he insists that it’s too much,” she said.
Mabanga said she was forced to augment the little money with cash from other sources.
Matova dismissed Centre Party’s application saying there was no proof of variation in his income.
