Chadenga will be sorely missed

Pascal Chadenga has been described as a man who was pas­sionate about conservation.
Chadenga died at the Avenues Clinic in Harare on Wednesday. He was admitted to the hospital last weekend.
He collapsed in Bulawayo on Thurs­day last week while attending a Zim­babwe-Botswana Joint Permanent Commission meeting. Parks board chairperson Mr George Pangeti said Mr Chadenga’s death was saddening and the void he left would be difficult to fill.
Zanu-PF national chairman Cde Simon Khaya Moyo described Chadenga as a “solid, diligent and disci­plined officer”.
“I received the sad news of the demise of Cde Chadenga with shock and disbelief. I worked with him when I was Minister of Mines, Environment and Tourism from mid 1997 to mid 2000 and found him to be a solid, dili­gent and disciplined officer,” he said.
“Only last week while in Bulawayo, he phoned me requesting us to meet last Monday. It was never to be. We miss his humour and genius disposition. May his soul anchor and rest in eternal peace,” he said.
Safari and tour operator Mr Emmanuel Fundira described Chadenga as a man who wanted the indigenous people to participate in the hunting and safari industry.
A church service was held  and his body will lie in state at the family home in Harare before being taken to Chirumhanzu for burial at Mujawo Vil­lage on Saturday. He is survived by his wife, Rumbidzayi, and four children.
