SIMBARASHE Chadiwa, the man who spent nine years in prison for a crime he insists he never committed, is set to become the FIRST member of his family to have a white wedding.
He is set to wed Christabell Kudziwe on Saturday in Harare.
Simbarashe’s bachelor’s party on Saturday drew prominent guests from different sectors – medical and legal professionals, miners, bankers, educators, musicians, journalists and others.
He arrived at Kumusha Garden Resort riding a horse.
The bash wasn’t just about dancing.
Family members and guests framed it as a moment of “prophecy and pride.”
His brother, Aleck Chadiwa, told the crowd that Simbarashe will be the first member of their family to celebrate a white wedding.
“Simbarashe’s release from prison to a white wedding is going to open a door in our family since no one has celebrated his or her marriage this way,” he said.
“His wedding will be the first in our family and we feel honoured and delivered in this way.
“Simbarashe has made us meet prominent people and connected us to the world.”
Even guests from the Diaspora showed up, underlining how widely his comeback story has captured the public’s attention.
Among those present were Professor Mudyanadzo, Dr Choga, Dr Nyamakawo, the Katonha twins and Evangelist Alois Mutsondiwa, who directed the ceremony.
Dr Choga, a clinical therapist and marriage counsellor, told the groom that marriage was not built on feelings alone.
“Marriage is not about happiness but responsibility.
“Happiness is luxury.
“Responsibility is the roof.”
He said life was not always smooth flowing and a stable marriage was protected by duty, character and consistent effort to keep the union alive.
Dr Choga urged the couple to stick to humility, communication, and the courage to say sorry when misunderstandings happen.
He blasted domestic violence.
ZAOGA Forward in Faith Southley Park Assembly Elder Lovemore Chare testified that Simbarashe gave his life to God soon after his release and was now actively involved in the church.
“We are happy to see Simbarashe in a journey of spiritual life,” Elder Chare said.
“He gave his life to God upon his release from prison and is participating well in the body of Christ.”
As the event wrapped up, the message to the couple was clear–fidelity, respect, and guarding the marriage was important.
In a way, Simbarashe has become something of a celebrity.
But, the biggest test now is protecting his new life, his new home, and his new identity.
