The event will bring together captains of industry who will be exhibiting at the annual Mine Entra to be held at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair grounds. It will be played under the Four Ball Better Ball format.
“Yes we are sponsoring the Mine Entra golf tournament again this year and we hope it will even be bigger,” said Chafferfly managing director Godrey Nyakudya.
Chafferfly has over the last couple of years emerged as one of the biggest golf sponsors in the country with their biggest contribution being the Hwange Open.
Golfers from Harry Allen Club who include its public relations manager Moses Mlalazi, vice-captain Ndlovu, Victor Tall, Mufaro Chivonivoni, former Highlanders chairman Rodger Muhlwa, William Tshuma, Kwangwari Kwangwari and Shepherd Huni, will participate in the tournament.
From out of Bulawayo, golfers like Cephas Ncube, Robson Dumane from Hwange, Christopher Jairos from Harare as well as Arthur Kanyimu from Kadoma are some of the players expected to tee off.
Lady golfers Lorraine Huwa, Rodnah Mutasa, Acy Zerf and Linda Ruvaya will also be there.
Meanwhile, from Hwange Tobias Mandoreba reports that promising up-and-coming lady golfer, Selina Njamba clinched the inaugural Traditional Chiefs Golf tournament held at the Hwange Golf Club over the weekend.
The tournament which drew a huge field of 60 players was sponsored by Chiefs Nekatambe and Pashu.
Njamba garnered 40 points to walk away with a top prize of two goats. Winning second position by a count back at 37 points was Christian Lungu while Matron Mguni ensured the ladies ruled the roost on this unique day by coming third after losing on count back on 37 points.
The duo both walked away with a goat each.
Victoria Falls based golfer Diamond Jackson came fourth with a total of 36 points. Also losing by count back with same number points as Jackson were Stanley Dube (fifth), Milton Magidi (sixth), Terry Tshamala (seventh), George Phiri (eighth) and Stanford Musengi (ninth).
They all walked away with a free range chicken each.
ZPC-based golfer Virginia Mabhena was in the tenth position at 35 points and smiled all the way to the kitchen with the last chicken on offer at the podium.
It was not a good day under the traditional environment for ladies vice Captain Shelly Gwanonga who walked away with the Most Golf after she amassed 6 points.
In his remarks after the prize giving ceremony, Chief Nekatambe said he felt humbled by the turnout and the community support on the golf tournament.
“I had thought this day was going to be small but as you can see for yourselves, the turnout is amazing. I would also like to thank members from my community who came here to render support,” he said.
