PREMIER League of Swaziland outfit Manzini Wanderers have come up with a compromise arrangement to get their Zimbabwe born technical man Julius Chakupewa to sit on the bench during matches.
With frustration creeping in for both club and Chakupewa in the wait for Caf B badge after the course which ended in Pretoria last month, Wanderers have appointed him as assistant manager to circumvent mandatory requirements.
The Mvuma-born and bred mentor assumed the new role last week making his technical bench a?debuta? in the 1-1 draw against Midas City in an MTN Premier League of Swaziland match played at Mavuso Sports Centre.
Chakupewa is waiting for his Caf B licence with the South African Football Association (Safa).
This means Chakupewa will now double-up as the technical director.
Wanderers could have opted for the compromise as the stand-in head coach John a?Shisa Juniora? Mdluli, sat out on the stands due to suspension.
Chakupewa said he had almost given up hope.
a?I almost gave up on the wait, any checks for progress are usually met with even more frustrating responses such as waiting for Caf confirmation,a? said Chakupewa.
Meanwhile, Hebert Maruwa finally afforded a smile at Green Mamba after a 2-0 win over Red Lions last Saturday.
It had been a tormenting experience at the Correctional Services outfit this season with player suspensions for indiscipline reigning supreme in the squad.
While a smile returned on Maruwa, the same could not be said of Tarisai Changara at the free falling Mbabane Highlanders after being robbed off a 2-0 lead to lose 2-3 to Moneni Pirates.
In the MTN National First Division, Saul Chaminukaas Matsapha United once again failed to beat Amalanda settling for a 1-1 draw at Nhlanganoas King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium – just a stoneas throw from the house the late Swazi king met Englandas King George.
Both leagues take a break with focus switching to the countryas richest knockout tournament SMVA Ingwenyama Cup.
