the two who are members of Apostle Batsirai Java’s Tabernacle of Grace, also run a taxi business, which ensures that everyday is a payday.
That being said, their first ever live DVD album titled “Prayer Expose” recorded at 7 Arts Theatre is a collector’s item.
The DVD that features a bonus video for the song “Gorerangu” which though it is nice and mellow I think Charles should have focused more on playing marimba and leave the singing to his wife Namatayi whose sultry voice appeals to even secular music lovers.
What is all the more exciting about the DVD is that the pictures are of high quality and the choreography and arrangement of the songs is simply out of this world.
According to Charles, the DVD “is original and natural” with no post-production of the DVD.
“The richness and energy displayed in the DVD shows that Chalenam Rhythms are only starting but there is a bright future ahead of us,” he said.
Apart from the new DVD, Chalenam as the pair calls themselves launched a concept called The Gospel Hub, a platform for gospel musicians to come together exchange notes and network in a Christian-like environment.
The Gospel Hub is also aimed at exposing budding gospel musicians and established to showcase their talents.
Some of the musicians who have taken part in the Gospel Hub are Baba Manyeruke, Olinda Marowa and a group called Synergy from Kadoma.
The Chipanga’s were part of the pioneers of Umoja Cultural Flying Carpet and Charles has introduced a way of playing marimba in gospel music and is currently studying Theology at Tabernacle Of Grace Theological School.
