MAN-OF-THE-MOMENT Arnold “Oxman” Zikhali isn’t just a Harare phenomenon anymore.
His tale has now spread outside the captain and he is now even attracting challengers from around the country.
The Oxman is slowly turning into an overnight national celebrity after H-Metro ran a story about his unusual eating habits.
Some claim he consumes, in just a day, the same quantity of food many consume at a funeral over three or four days.
His story has divided opinion but one that cannot be taken away from the 36-year-old is that he has become an overnight sensation.
On Tuesday, H-Metro ran a challenge show in which the team bought him lunch, which he managed to finish, at a local restaurant.
The lunch had 2kgs of Sadza, 2.5kgs of chicken, one litre of juice and two litres of water.
Now, he has been challenged on social media by a businessman who has invited him for an eating competition in Mhondoro.
“We wanted to invite him to our place outside Harare but we could not strike a deal since his management was demanding a high amount which we could not agree to,” said the businessman.
“We just wanted to have fun and had offered something, in terms of money, but his demands went over our expectations.”
Following H-Metro’s story, many companies are after Zikhali’s signature where they intend to offer him some endorsement deals.
A leading city restaurant last night offered him free breakfast, lunch and dinner at its premises.
“We want him to come and spend the day with us,” representatives of the restaurant said.
“His story is amazing and is trending and it will be nice just to have him for company while he eats his big meals.
“It’s a feel-good story.”
