regarding the matter. His remarks follow recent media reports that the mines’ lobby group had rejected Government plans to control mineral production and prices as espoused in the draft minerals policy.
“The correct position is that the chamber is still carrying internal discussions regarding the draft minerals policy and is therefore yet to finalise its submissions to Government with regard to the matter,” he said.
He said once the chamber has completed discussions it would engage Government with a view to enhancing it or any other policy directed at the growth of the mining industry. He said the chamber was committed to the on-going dialogue between Government and stakeholders to develop policies.
