Chaminuka joins Masvingo

Chaminuka had been without a job after being fired from Shabanie Mine just two games into the season and will this week face his former side as Yuna Yuna are at Maglas.
Masvingo secretary Tinashe Mapfeka said Chaminuka will help Masomere, who had been working alone, in the technical department.
“I can confirm that we have engaged Saul on a one-year-contract. Masomere was working alone following the departure of Tembo Chuma to Highlanders.
“We had no assistant coach and we still need a goalkeepers’ coach.
“We are looking forward to the match against Shabanie on Sunday and we need to collect maximum points.
“It is one match I think we will win comfortably following our performance in the recent games,” said Mapfeka.
Chaminuka will be making an emotional return to Maglas where he only lasted two matches – a loss away to Highlanders and another to Chicken Inn at home. Fans demanded his resignation after the Chicken Inn match where players and the coach were held hostage for four hours after the match. The executive immediately fired him.
When Chaminuka was hired, John Phiri, who had been in charge of Shabanie, tendered his resignation as he refused to work under a coach he claimed had not achieved anything in his career.
Phiri is now in charge of FC Platinum’s Under-19 side. Masomere, on the other hand, will be coming back home as he played for Shabanie in 1985 and 1986 before he moved to Mandava United the following year. The coach, who won the league championship with Amazulu, wants a win.
“Chaminuka’s engagement is good news to me. I have no problem with him and that is not going to change my game plan.
“I will not rely on information on how Shabanie plays because if I do that ndinorohwa kusvika makuseni. Our match is going to be tough and fireworks should be expected. I know Shabanie are a good side and when they start picking up points it will be hard to stop them.
