WARRIORS assistant coach Saul Chaminuka may have found a new home in the border town of Beitbridge as he is set to take over at Premiership newboys Border Strikers.
Chaminuka emerged the front-runner following interviews done this week.
The newcomers were forced to hunt for a new coach as the man who guided them into the Premiership Never Malunga does not have the CAF C licence, the minimum requirement for a coach working in the top-flight league.
A number of coaches had expressed interest in the job with former Dynamos goalkeepers’ coach Tichaona Diya and Gilbert Mushangazhike and former Shabanie Mine coach John Phiri among those who were interviewed.
However, sources say it was Chaminuka who impressed the newboys.
The club is also believed to be interested in roping in Godfrey Tamirepi, who was Chaminuka’s assistant at ZPC Kariba when they came within one victory of winning the league title.
Border Strikers secretary-general Rodlet Chigwinya confirmed they were done with the interviews but dismissed the appointment of Chaminuka as speculation.
“We did interviews with a number of coaches but we haven’t yet disclosed who our new coach is. “
