“Mr Chamisa was the leader of the electoral college and his conduct on the day clearly showed they did not want Mr Dzirutwe to be confirmed.

“He ripped through his conduct during his term of office and made allegations of fomenting violence and then threw out two people perceived to be sympathetic to him (Mr Dzirutwe).

“The whole atmosphere was not conducive for a free exercise and clearly showed they want him out in favour of one Mawombera,” said a source who attended the meeting on condition of not being named.

Yesterday Mr Chamisa denied the allegations levelled against him.
“I have no time for your contrived negativity,” he said.

“We have held a credible free and fair election manned by excellence and democratic best practices,” he said.
Other MPs who failed the confirmation process by the constituents in Harare were Science and Technology Minister Professor Heneri Dzinotyiwei of Budiriro, Pearson Mungofa of Highfield East, and Willas Madzimure of Kambuzuma.

Elias Jembere of Epworth and Margret Matienga of Sunningdale were also rejected by their constituents.
