THE Zimbabwe Karate Union will conclude their season with the Champions of Champions tournament next week in Harare with all provinces expected to compete.

The tournament, slated for December 6 at Alexandra Sports Club, is expected to attract fighters from the different active provinces with participants competing in the juniors and seniors sections.

ZKU president, Joe Rugwete, said the tournament was a platform to select and prepare national teams for next year’s regional and continental events.

“The ZKU is excited to host this final event of the year which shall be held under the World Karate Federation rules and regulations.

“We are expecting karatekas from all active provinces and we are determined to do our utmost to bring about the best possible conditions to make this competition a memorable occasion.

“The tournament, together with all other competitions, provides the technical team with an opportunity to identify talent and to nurture potential talent in preparation for national team representation.

“For this reason, we expect a high level of competition and an entertaining event,” said Rugwete.

Rugwete said they are targeting next year’s All-Africa Games to be held in Congo Brazzaville and Zone Six championships to be staged in Durban.
