CHANCELLOR Primary School scooped the first prize in the Dairibord Cool Summer Stars Mutare Promotion. The multiple-award-winning school was presented with the award last Friday. Running under the theme: “Bigger, stronger, cooler and tastier than ever,” the promotion ran concurrently in all primary schools in Mutare, Harare, Bulawayo and Gweru from October last year until January.

Each school was required to collect the Dairibord ice-cream wrappers and the school that collected the most wrappers would win.
Chancellor Primary and Bulawayo’s Milton Primary School jointly won third prizes at national level.

Gweru’s Lundi Park Primary School scooped the first prize and Harare’s Highlands Primary School won the second prize.
The first prize winning school got three computers, books voucher worth $600, refurbishment of five blackboards as well as $400 worth of Dairibord products for all teaching staff.

The second prize was $300 books voucher, refurbishment of five blackboards and $400 worth of Dairibord products for the teaching staff, while the third place winners got $400 worth of Dairibord products for the teaching staff and will have five blackboards refurbished.

Dairibord Foods brand manager Ms Pam Tairoodza said the Cool Summer Stars Promotion was meant to promote Zimbabwe’s anti-litter campaign in schools by encouraging children to dispose of their litter correctly.

“It is said you should catch them young in order to inculcate moral values. The Cool Summer Stars Promotion is meant to inculcate anti-littering values in school children.
“The school children are also our biggest market so we saw it befitting to give back to schools, which is where they are mainly educated to become law-abiding citizens,” she said. Chancellor Primary School headmaster Mr Masimba Chihowa said such promotions were good to incentivise children in good citizenry participation.

He said children grasped things easier through fun initiatives such as the cool summer stars campaign.
“The children now know that littering is bad and in the process the school has benefited.

“We thank Dairibord for the promotion and encourage more companies to run promotions in schools especially educative promotions,” said Mr Chihowa.
Ms Tairoodza added that Dairibord last year reformulated all its milk products and commissioned a state-of-the-art production line plant to improve the quality of their products.

She said the promotion also marketed their new range of vanilla and chocolate cones to their biggest market — school children.
Dairibord Zimbabwe (Private) Limited is 100 percent owned by Lavenson Investments (Private) Limited which is subsidiary of Dairibord Holdings Limited.
