Chapungu head for Hwange with hope

AIRMEN Chapungu make the long trip to Hwange tomorrow needing nothing short of victory if they entertain any chances of not being entangled in the impasse pitting football mother body Zifa and PSL.

“Waru Waru” had all along been safe from relegation until Zifa councillors overturned their earlier resolution to demote two teams from the topflight league and have the four regional champions battle it out in playoffs for the two premiership slots.

Chapungu who are fourth from bottom will be hoping to beat Hwange tomorrow and beat Caps United on the last day of the season if they are to entertain chances of premiership football if the resolution by the councillors is to carry the day.

Head coach John Nyikadzino goes to Hwange with a full strength side but without his two lieutenants, assistant coach Clement Mugari and goalkeepers’ coach Robert Juro.

Mugari is attending Caf B licence in Bulawayo while Juro has been bereaved, he lost his mother this week.

The Chapungu gaffer said he is prepared for the task at hand despite the absence of his assistants.

“As a coach you must be prepared to play under any conditions and this is one of them where I will have to do without my assistants. I am equal to the task at hand and I am confident that we will come up with a positive result come Sunday,” said Nyikadzino.

The gaffer said he hoped sanity will prevail in the ongoing squabbles pitting Zifa and the PSL.
