HSSL comes into second season

THE second season of the popular Hwange Social Soccer League (HSSL) roars into life this weekend with lots of football action taking place at different venues in the coal mining town.

The 22 team league took the town by storm on its inception last year with huge crowds and the league’s chairperson Josiah Nduku, a winger with Caps Boozers FC, is confident this year there will be lots of exhilarating football again.

“ We were humbled by how the games proved popular last year and I am sure from this weekend there will be lots of fun, flair and talent exhibitions as the second season kicks off. Last year at most matches the crowds and general excitement by far exceeded those at matches in formally recognised leagues.

“The purpose here is to socialise and network but with an aim of flattening those pot bellies.” said Nduku.

Sinderella FC were champions last year with 80 points and had players like Mathengu Mthabani and Smart Mwachenya shining all the way to the winner’s podium.

Impressive Caps Boozers had Nkululeko “Ozil” Siamtinta, Gabriel Chikomo and Clayton Kawodza illuminating the scene.

The other members of the Nduku led committee are Jabulani Sibanda(vice chairman); Ndabezinhle Nkomo(treasurer); Leteng Sibanda(secretary) Gary Gwara(vice secretary); and committee members Nkululeko Siamntinta; Amon Mukozho; Dumisani Mafikeni and Tapfuma Chirinda.
