CHAPUNGU Queens are pumped up for the three-day “Find the Ball Netball Tournament” that kicks-off in Gaborone, Botswana today.
The Air Force of Zimbabwe side will be out to make the most out of the current half-season break in the Premier Netball League term.
Initially, four teams were scheduled to take part in the regional meet, organised by Botswana, but only Chapungu eventually managed to make the trip.
Third on the table in the PNL, Chapungu are hoping to fine-tune their act, not less after acquiring new players during this break, by only participating, but winning the tournament as well.
In May this year, they were invited to Namibia for the COSANA championships, but did not make it with only ZDF Queens and Makate making the trip.
While ZDF Queens won silver, Makate, the new kid on the PNL block, failed to make any significant impact.
And the onus is now on Chapungu Queens to raise the country’s flag in Botswana.
The PNL yesterday said: “The Premier Netball League extends its best wishes to Chapungu Netball Queens Club as they embark on their journey to Gaborone, Botswana, to participate in the prestigious Find The Ball Tournament, taking place from 19th to 21st July 2025.
“We wish the team safe travels and all the very best in the tournament. As they represent our league and country, we are confident that they will showcase their exceptional skills and sportsmanship.
“We urge fans and supporters to rally behind the team, offering their encouragement and support as they take on this exciting challenge. Let’s give our full support to the Chapungu Queens Netball Club who are representing us all on the regional stage.”
The team is accompanied by various members of the Zimbabwe Netball Association and PNL board represented by spokesperson Innocent Ndiya.
Chapungu Queens have shown great improvement this season with seasoned players like Tafadzwa Matura taking the PNL by storm.
