Fans who were left disappointed last week after a gig featuring singer Charles Charamba and his wife Olivia was cancelled due to bad weather will this Saturday have another chance to watch the gospel couple in action at Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex. Mathias Mhere, who is still basking in the glory of the successful launch of his third album “Nguva YeNyasha”, will be part of the line-up.
Show promoter Timothy Munyinyi said the event will be a family affair.
“There are no rain fears since the concert will be staged indoors. It is an afternoon event because we want the whole family to be there,” he said.
Gospel protégé Mhere promised to give a good performance.
“It is always hard to share the stage with the Charambas because they give a good performance. I feel honoured to share the stage with them. I learn one or two things each time I share the stage with them.
“We are from the same church and I regard them as my mentors. I will perform songs from my new album,” he said.
The Charambas command a huge following in the country.
Pastor Charamba’s last album “Pashoko Pangoma” that features the song “Nyika Zimbabwe” is one of his best and inspirational albums to date.
“Regera Kundisiya”, “Ndakaurayisa Jesu” and “Jehovha Ndiye” are some of the inspiring and danceable songs taken from the same album.
He has won many awards in recognition of his sterling performance in the arts sector in Zimbabwe. His popularity started growing with his chart-topping albums like “Exodus” and “Sunday Service”.
He has also worked on a number of musical projects with his wife, Olivia, who is also a pastor, composer and musician in her own right.
Mai Charamba, as she is known in music, made a huge splash with her 2000 release titles “Amen”.
