Politicians urged to deliver

Politicians must deliver on developmental projects in their respective communities even years before elections for them to gain people’s trust, a senior council official has said.
Chivi Rural District Council chairperson Cde Killer Zivhu said it was easy for people to vote for a candidate who always catered for their needs compared to one who would appear just before elections.

Cde Zivhu made the remarks while addressing Zanu-PF supporters who had attended a ground breaking ceremony held at Ambuya Svokorai Ndambakuwa’s homestead in Nyengera Village, Ward 7 Chivi North where he donated building material worth more than US$5 000.

The building material will be used to build a three-roomed house for Mbuya Ndambakuwa and her seven grandchildren who are orphaned.
“Politicians must shun the habit of remembering their people and communities when they are in need of votes, but should always learn to develop their communities even years before elections for them to gain people’s trust, said Cde Zivhu.

“Many politicians lose elections because they only appear during election time and disappear afterwards, leaving their supporters stranded and they fail to address that mistake.”

Cde Zivhu said he decided to help Mbuya Ndambakuwa after noticing that she was wallowing in poverty with her grandchildren.
“I made the decision to help this old widow after realising that she has been living a hell on earth life as she could not provide food, proper shelter, clothes and school fees for herself and her seven grandchildren,” he said.
