adminby the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe. The video, “Tsaona”, comes after the country lost many lives through road accidents the past festive season. The country recorded 1 476 accidents which resulted in 228 deaths from December 15, 2012 to January 8 this year, compared to 1 399 accidents and 118 deaths during the same period last year.
Pastor Charamba said lives were lost on the roads due to human error.
“We are really concerned as musicians at the number of people who continue to lose their lives due to irresponsible driving. That is the reason we came up with that song,” he said.
Principal director in the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Infrastructural Development Engineer Eric Gumbi said road safety cannot be Government’s concern alone. He called on all major players on road safety to be fully committed and to double their efforts so that the concept of “safe arrival” becomes a reality to all road users.
“We hope the partnership with prominent singers and legendary sportspersons will help tame the traffic jungle,” he said.
