The annual gig is scheduled for the Aquatic Complex.
Arguably the most popular faces in gospel in Zimbabwe, the Charambas are known to deliver the best in music and live performances.
Backed by The Fishers of Men, the band that has been with them since their formative stages, Charles and his wife Olivia are a joy to watch and their chemistry on and off the stage is amazing. Their melodious voices and highly charged performances await gospel music lovers come January 1.
Baba Charamba, as his fans lovingly call him, has a long list of diverse albums that include chart toppers like “Vhuserere”, “John 3:16”, “Verses and Chapters” and “Exodus”.
His latest offering titled “Pashoko Pangoma” features hits songs “Moriya Ineminana”, Jehovah Ndiye”, “Mviro Mviro” (Part 3) and “Regera Kundisiya”.
Pastor Charamba is renowned for his emotional performances on stage.
Few people have attended his performances without being touched by his emotionally fuelled songs.
And at each performance Pastor Charamba has connected with the audiences as well as being appreciated and respected by gospel lovers from across denominations.
The gig in Chitungwiza will not be any different when the Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe-born man of song takes to the stage.
And you can bet your last cent that when he takes to the stage he will leave many in tears.
On the other hand, Mai Charamba, who started off as a backing vocalist for the Fishers of Men, will be out to show her own musical prowess.
She boasts three albums that include “Amen”, “Daily Bread” and “Gospel”.
Her repertoire includes hits like “Rute”, “Zvanga Zvakanaka” and “Africa Restore Identity”.
The couple has had nationwide tours, Canada and the United Kingdom.
Charles and Olivia have truly used their sungura-inspired beat as a medium through which they reach out to their fans.
“The backbone of my music is my husband. In fact, he has been an inspiration in my life,” Mai Charamba was quoted as saying.
One of her successful albums to date is “Daily Bread” in which she talks about spirituality.
Show promoter Partson Chimbodza of Chipaz Promotions urged fans to make a date with the Charambas as they unveil their surprise package for 2012.
“The show promises to be an eventful one with something new from the couple. I have no doubt that gospel fans will be looking forward to the gig as it is the beginning of the New Year,” Chimbodza said.
