Chawawa joins The Rock, Kevin Hart in blockbuster

AFTER earning his stripes on social media for his biting social media satire and commentary, Zimbabwean Munya Chawawa’s comedy seems to have struck the right chord in Hollywood, United States, as he is set to star in the animated movie, the DC League of Super Pets, alongside The Rock and Kevin Hart.

The Rock

The movie will premiere in theatres across the globe on 29 July.

Chawawa is set to make his big screen debut as an animated corgi in the upcoming comedy film, which turns the spotlight on the pets of DC Comic superheroes such as Batman and Superman.

According to Game Rant, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Krypto the Super Dog is the protagonist and has been seen as his owner’s best friend in the multiple trailers for the film.

It also seems like he has similar powers and he is even seen flying in certain scenes and fighting crime alongside his super-powered owner. However, when a mission goes sideways, he is also ready to take charge.

Chawawa’s stocks have risen over the last two years, with his success coinciding with Covid-19 induced lockdowns around the world.

Earlier this year, Chawawa was voted Best Breakthrough Performer at the first British National Comedy Awards for Stand Up to Cancer while only this week the Royal Television Society Programme Awards gave a thumbs up to his show, Race Around Britain, giving him an award in the presenter category.

Born in Derby in the UK, Chawawa spent his childhood in Harare before his family once again moved to Framingham Pigot, a village in Norfolk.

Given all this, he has never discarded his Zimbabwean roots and believes it had a bearing on his craft.

After he announced that he would be appearing in the movie, Chawawa got a thumbs up from The Rock himself, who disclosed his fondness for the Zimbabwean expatriate.

Kevin Hart

“I’m replacing @KevinHart4real with you!!…Me, Kev and our whole cast appreciate your hard work my friend.

Great job on DC Super Pets!!!” The Rock tweeted.
