THE Zimbabwe Senior Men’s Sevens Team, the Zambezi Cheetahs arrived in Port Louis, Mauritius yesterday morning ahead of the 2 025 Rugby Africa Men’s Sevens Cup set for tomorrow and Sunday.
Zimbabwe are in Pool C and will take on Tunisia (morning), Mauritius (midday) and Madagascar (afternoon) tomorrow with results determining the line up of matches on the final day.
Speaking as they left Harare, coach Ricky Chirengende said:
“It’s been a long time since we assembled a squad this strong. We’ve made up for lost prep time with the quality of our selection. We’re going out to bring back the big prize.”
The Cheetahs captain Tapiwa Malenga said:
“We’re confident, focused, and ready. This tournament is our ticket back to consistent international competition.”
With a powerful 12-man squad blending experience and rising talent—including stars from the Sables—the Cheetahs are hungry to reclaim African glory for the first time since 2012.
A top finish could secure Zimbabwe a place in the World Rugby Challenger Series and reignite Olympic dreams.
