The Cheetahs are expected to leave the country on Sunday for the final leg of the World Series in London that will act as a relegation and demotion competition for the bottom teams who are current core members of the series. Team manager, Bruce Hobson, yesterday told The Herald they would name the travelling party towards the end of the week and there were still a number of issues that have to be dealt with before coming up with the final group of players.
“We get into camp tomorrow (today) and we are going to have two sessions in the morning basically with the players that took part in all the Sevens tournament we have played so far this year Kenya,” said Hobson.
Zimbabwe have so far taken part in three Sevens tournaments — the Spar Zimbabwe International Sevens where they won the Plate, the Hong Kong Sevens where they won the second-tier competition and the Africa Cup in Kenya last week where they finished second.
“Basically we are going to have those players in camp but for Garth we have to wait for the fitness report so we cannot name our final squad as yet because of such issues,” said the former Zimbabwe Rugby Union president.
