Chegutu man up for murder

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in Chegutu on allegations of killing a friend following an argument.

The victim, Dean Majoni, died after being stabbed twice on the back with a Colombian knife.

National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the incident.

“Police in Chegutu arrested Last Pichari, aged 23, in connection with a case of murder which occurred at Wicklow Farm, Chegutu, on November 2, 2025,” he said.

“The suspect stabbed the victim, Dean Majoni, twice on the back with a Colombian knife following an argument over an unknown issue while attending a funeral.”

In another case, police are investigating a case of murder which occurred at Dembo Business Centre in Kenzamba, where a suspect only identified as Denny allegedly struck Norman Muteyaunga (38) once on the head with a machete following an altercation during a game of snooker.

The victim was rushed to Chinhoyi Hospital, where he died while being admitted.

Meanwhile, police are also investigating a hit-and-run road traffic accident which occurred on November 2, 2025, at the 2-kilometre peg along Robert Gabriel Mugabe Road in Norton.

A man aged 28 died on the spot after being hit by a car whose driver did not stop after the accident.

The body of the victim was taken to Norton Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.
