Cheso, Slizer gig on cards

when she returns to the country for a show at Pamuzinda Highway Xscape tomorrow night.
She will gyrate and put revellers in a dancing mood alongside sungura maestro Alick Macheso and Dendera prodigy Tryson Chimbetu in what promises to be the gig of the weekend.

It will certainly be a double ace for fans, who would have an opportunity to watch Extra-basso, and Slizer singing one of Macheso’s songs, “Zvakanaka Zvakadaro”.
This latest development comes as no surprise after the Tswana diva, openly admitted during the Unity Gala in Mutare last year that she loved Macheso and Winky D’s music.
“I love listening and dancing to Macheso and Bigiman’s (Winky D) music. Their music is alive and strong (sic),” she said to some wild cheers from the multitudes of fans, who had braved the chilly night to see her perform at Sakubva Stadium.

It appears that fans would not be disappointed when she teams up with her icon, who obviously would want to assure Slizer that he is still on top of the game.
Cheso Power Promotions manager William Tsandukwa said they were working towards more collaborations with regional artistes

“We are trying a new combination with our fellow artistes from Botswana after Macheso had a successful show with Jeff Mathauthau and Franco from Botswana some years ago.
“This time around Slizer expressed her interest to play with Macheso since she always sings some of his songs like ‘Zvakanaka Zvakadaro’ during her shows,” said Tsandukwa.
He said it was Slizer’s promoter who linked them with the artiste during her last visit to the country.

In reports emanating from Botswana, Slizer is said to be on cloud nine over the impending show at Pamuzinda Highway Xscape with Macheso.
She also revealed that Macheso was going to feature on her forthcoming album.
“I’m positive that performing alongside Macheso will improve my performance a lot and he has agreed to play a part in the album that I’m working on.

“He’s excellent when it comes to the guitar and I know he’ll add value to my project. He’s also an international artiste, having performed in countries like the United Kingdom and Australia many times; so there’s much to learn from him,” said Slizer in the Botswana tabloid, Showbiz.
She last performed in Zimbabwe in December last year sharing the stage with the likes of Freddy “Kapfupi” Manjalima, First Farai and Suluman Chimbetu.

She has deep love for Zimbabwe and its people, including President Robert Mugabe whom she described as her idol.
“Zimbabweans have shown so much love and I feel indebted to reciprocate the love that they have given me. So I urge (people) to attend the shows and enjoy a good blend of music. This is not some sort of competition, but it is entertainment and I guess I’ll learn a lot from Macheso,” she added in her interview with Showbiz.

Since she burst on the entertainment scene, Slizer has made her name and is quite popular in Zimbabwe, following the release of her album, “O Tswa Kae”, which has a number of danceable tracks.
One particular song – “Ke jola le rasta” – has become almost like a national anthem at most parties in the country.
Macheso is currently riding high with his album “Zvinoda Kutendwa” that carries crowd favourites like “Tafadzwa”, “Chimoko Changu” and the title track itself.

Tryson, on the other hand, has also been doing well and the young man has continued to display a high level of ingenuity over the years.
Although his act, is often underrated, ironically his voice command and clarity equals that of the late dendera musician, Simon Chimbe- tu.
