Chevrons eye historic ODI series win against Pakistan in crucial second match

Brandon Moyo, Online Reporter

The Chevrons will be hoping to spring another surprise against Pakistan when the two sides face off in the second One Day International (ODI) at Queens Sports Club today.

Zimbabwe lead the three-match series 1-0 following an 80-run (D/L Method) win in a rain-affected opening match at the same venue on Sunday.

Today’s encounter is a high-stakes game for both teams.

A win for the Chevrons will give them an unassailable 2-0 lead, securing their first-ever ODI series victory over Pakistan, while the visitors will be hoping to salvage the series and level it, leaving everything to play for on Thursday.

The first game on Sunday was halted by rain with Pakistan struggling on 60/6 in 21 overs, chasing a target of 206 runs. They were 80 runs behind on the D/L par score, which was set at 140.

The weather forecast predicts no rain today, so the match is likely to proceed without interruption.
