LATE music legend John Chibadura’s music is still as wonderful as ever.

His compositions still captivate the hearts of many as Chibadura was a phenomenal lyricist, dancer and guitarist.

And, 24 years after his death, Chibadura’s legacy appears to be in safe hands.

His three sons – Simba, John and Knowledge – have remained firm in reviving their father’s music.

On August 5, the three siblings, with the help of two family friends – Daniel Gorejena and John Muroyi – will hold a tribute show in memory of Chibadura.

The show will be held at Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex.

According to Gorejena, Alick Macheso, Madzibaba Nicholas Zakaria, Somandla “Mafia”  Ndebele, Leonard Zhakata, Itayi Muchawaya,  and other sons of late music legends, have been invited for the gala.

Speaking to H-Metro, Gorejena said Chibadura remains a legend.

“Chibadura was born on the 17th of February 1957 and died in 1999.

“During his lifetime, he conquered the music landscape as a gifted composer, guitarist and dancer who wrote powerful songs.

“He was no doubt one of the country’s biggest crowd pullers who rocked the showbiz scene and he deserves to be honoured.”

Gorejena believes Chibadura’s forth-coming gala will go a long way in honouring the family.

“After consultation with the family, we have decided to come up with this concert where we are going to salute Chibadura for his legacy.

“To be honest, Chibadura, who could have turned 66 this year, deserves to be saluted for the role he played on the Zimbabwe music scene. He inspired a number of artists like Madzibaba Zakaria, Leonard Zhakata, Macheso and many others.”

Gorejena said they were open to partners to come on board and make the celebrations bigger.
