THE Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival is BACK.
It brings with it a lively celebration of Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage through traditional dance.
Organised in partnership with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) and the Zimbabwe National Traditional Dancers Association (ZNTDA), this year’s edition aims to unite communities through music, dance, and shared cultural expression.
Under the theme “Ngoma Ngairire Shamwari, Tshay’sgubhu Mngane,” the award-winning festival continues to resonate with audiences by showcasing the passion and vibrancy of Zimbabwean culture.
Over the years, the Chibuku Neshamwari Festival has grown into a huge national event, honouring tradition while fostering a sense of unity and friendship among people.
The 2026 festival will get underway on May 9 and run through to July 11.
It will feature ten provincial finals to be held across the country in the lead-up to the grand National Final.
Spectators can look forward to captivating performances by talented traditional dance groups, each representing the distinct cultural identity of their region.
Competitors will battle it out for cash prizes at both provincial and national levels, adding excitement and reward to the competition.
At provincial level, winners will receive US$2,500 for first place, US$1,500 for second place, and US$1,000 for third place.
At the National Final, the stakes are even higher, with US$15,000 awarded to the winner, US$10,000 for second place, and US$7,500 for third place.
Groups wishing to take part are encouraged to register with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe National Traditional Dancers Association.
