The fastfoods outlets-sponsored club reduced their intended 10-day uninterrupted training camp in Inyathi to six after a resolution was taken to release unwanted players so that they look for clubs elsewhere.
Chicken Inn left with 36 players for Inyathi.
Last year, they had their off-season camp at Esigodini.
“It was not going to be fair for us to keep the players for 10 days after the technical team had indicated that they were close to finalising their squad and thus we ended up approving a budget for six days.
“Right now as we speak, the technical team is finalising on their final team,” said Obert Masara, Chicken Inn treasurer.
Yesterday all the Chicken Inn players had an aerobics session at a city gym with the Adam Ndlovu- led technical department and fitnest guru Tendai Chaipa watching the proceedings.
Ex-national Under-20 gaffer Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu deputises Ndlovu with Siza Ndlovu being the goalkeepers’ coach.
Most of their players from last season worked out at the gym.
Defensive midfielder Guide Goddard, former national team strikers Evans Chikwaikwai and Daniel Zokoto, who are said to be having knocks, lifted weights while their counterparts sweated it out at aerobics.
National Under-20 left-footed midfielder Kudakwashe Mahachi seems to have made the grade from Bantu Rovers.
Chicken Inn has managed to lure Zifa Southern Region Division One Soccer League 2011 top goal scorer with 25 goals in his account, Lenience “Qobho” Mpofu, former Railstars skipper Lindelani “Vice” Ncube and Julius Daudi.
Goalkeepers Njabulo “Popo” Nyoni and Liberty Chirava, Canaan Nkomo, Thomas Chimenya, Thabani Goredema, Felix Chindungwe and Brian Mbiriri, are some of the surviving members from last season.
