THE wheels seem to be coming off for Triangle as the Sugar Sugar Boys continued their poor form when they let slip a first half lead to fall to log leaders Chicken Inn in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer league match at Gibbo Stadium yesterday.

Second half goals from top goal scorer Edmore Chirambadare and substitute Ishmael Lawe were enough to cancel out Hillary Bakacheza’s first half strike to maintain a five point lead on the top of the log standings with seven games to go.

Harare based referee Ruzive Ruzive handled well one of the games of the season in an evenly contested match at Gibbo and the hosts can only blame themselves for poor defending and lack of concentration.

“Our defending was quite erratic but I’m not going to single out one or two players. We lost as a team,” said Triangle technical manager Kelvin Kaindu.

Triangle opened the scoring in the ninth minute with Bakacheza regaining his scoring touch having struggled for form in the past four games.

Bakacheza took advantage of Gamecocks goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze who failed to hold on to a Pasca Manhanga stinging shot and coolly put the ball into the back of the net to score Triangle’s first goal in five games.

Triangle looked solid in defence in the first half with the return of Jimmy Dzingai helping them to keep the dangerous Chirambadare under check.

Triangle were however dealt a blow from their unforced mistakes in the second half as the visitors capitalised.

The hosts goalkeeper Ashley Reyners came off his line when he should have stayed put with Chirambadare under the challenge of a defender.

Chirambadare lobbed to score an easy goal reaching double digits as he scored his 10th of the season in the 70th minute.

Substitute Ishmael Lawe was given another scoring opportunity to score the winner five minutes later as Charles Rukwanhi made a school-boy mistake as his back pass was intercepted by Lawe before he rounded off the keeper to score.

“We’re one of the three teams fighting for the championship. Dynamos, F.C Platinum are also in contention so we’ve to stay cool and take every game as it comes,” said Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas.
