EMBATLED Kiglon suffered their third consecutive defeat when they were crushed by Chicken Inn in a Castle Premier Soccer League encounter at Rufaro yesterday.
Kiglon immediately fired their coach Pearson Matipedza.
Tendai Ndoro scored a brace while the returning Evans Chikwaikwai, Morris Kadzola and Brian Mbiriri weighed in with a goal each.
Kiglon failed to redeem themselves, having lost in their two previous matches to FC Platinum and Motor Action.
Chicken Inn took the lead in the seventh minute when Chikwaikwai fired home from close range after receiving a cross from Tendai Nyandoro.
The visitors almost doubled the score four minutes later but Mbiriri’s shot went wide.
Kiglon could have equalised in the in the 14th minute but More Moyo’s header, off a freekick swung in by Arnold Chiveya, sailed over the bar.
However, the visitors came back to haunt Kiglon and Tendai Ndoro found the target in the 25th minute when Kiglon’s goalie Steven Chimusoro spilled the ball after he couldn’t hold a shot by Chikwaikwai.
Two minutes later Morris Kadzola headed home the third goal from a corner kick.
After the breather, the visitors continued to cause problems for Kiglon’s defence.
Ndoro scored his second in the 67th minute when Chimusoro punched the ball back into the field after a shot from Mbiriri.
Mbiriri then sealed the victory for his side with 10 minutes to go when he received a fine pass from Canaan Nkomo inside the box and shot from close range.
Chicken Inn coach Philani “Beefy” Ncube was a happy man after yesterday’s game.
“I didn’t expect to win by such a margin but the fortunate part is we took our chances. Actually it’s positive, we played better football.
“We started very scrappy but luckily we scored an early goal and that’s is what put us into the game.
“We managed to go into the first half leading 3-0 and it gave us confidence,” said Ncube.
His counterpart, Matipedza, blamed his defence for the defeat.
“In the previous games we were playing a defensive system but because of the pressure within the circles we opened up today and the defence just couldn’t take it and we conceded three goals in a space of 20 minutes. We also attacked and got as many chances but didn’t utilise them and we got punished,” said Matipedza.
