Chicken Inn land Shabanie in hot oil

trouble in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at White City Stadium yesterday.
The defeat left them rooted on 31 points with their fate no longer in their hands, and hoping for a win in their last game, while Monomotapa lose.
The former Soccer Star of the Year scored a beauty from outside the box after being set up by another substitute Daniel Zokoto in added time.

Chikwayikwayi picked up a loose ball in midfield, exchanged passes with Zokoto before unleashing a volley that beat Shabanie Mine goalkeeper Victor Twaliki.
The result saw Shabanie Mine move a step closer to joining Zimbabwe Saints , Shooting Stars and Kiglon on their way to the unfashionable Division One Leagues.
It was also Adam Ndlovu’s second victory in two matches after taking over from “on leave” gaffer Philani ‘Beefy’ Ncube.

An ecstatic Ndlovu was satisfied with his players’ performance.
“It was a good win for us considering that we were a man down. We had to work extra hard for this victory and I am glad that the guys managed to adapt.
“The substitutes (Zokoto and Chikwayikwayi) managed to hold their own and complemented other players,” said Ndlovu.

Chicken Inn’s striker Never Musvipa was red carded for a crude tackle on Pardon Marime in the 48th minute.
Shabanie Mine could have won the match but were denied by Njabulo Nyoni who made some heroic saves.
Shabanie Mine also missed a penalty two minutes after the break after when Hebert Dick was adjudged to have brought down Caleb Masocha in the box.

Kudzanayi Kwashi took the responsibility but his shot was way off target.
Shabanie Mine’s striker Tawanda Mareya held his head in disbelief after watching Nyoni exercising his reflexes to punch a goal bound effort for corner in the 55th minute.

Nyoni also saved Jonathan Chitereki’s 20-metre drive in the 80th minute for a corner.
A minute before fulltime Canaan Nkomo forced Twaliki to make a fine save from a long-range effort.

There was nothing that Twaliki could have done to deny Chikwayikwayi the beauty he scored.

Had there been an award for the Goal of the Season, Chickwayikwayi’s effort could have been a contender for the accolade.
Shabanie Mine gaffer Luke Masomere took a swipe at his players who he said were “too old” to play in the Premiership.
