Chicken Inn re-assign coach

CHICKEN Inn have re-assigned their first assistant coach Fungai Tostao Kwashi to head their Zifa Bulawayo Province Division Two side technical department, Zimpapers Sports Hub has learnt.

Kwashi joined the Gamecocks early last year from CAPS United after the Simbisa Brands-sponsored outfit had parted ways with Prince Matore.

Sources within the Gamecocks corridors said Kwashi, who was not sitting on the Gamecocks technical bench when they fell to Greenfuel 1-0 on Saturday, has been re-assigned to work with club’s developmental side.

Previously, the developmental side had Nkosana “Sancho” Gumbo and Ben Nyahunzvi who have also been mentoring Under 13, 15 and 17 sides.

Asked on why Kwashi was not on the bench against GreenFuel, a dejected Gamecocks head coach Joey Antipas referred all questions to the club’s executive.

“I think you will have to speak to the club’s executive with regards to that,” he said.

Antipas has watched his charges blow hot and cold in 12 rounds of Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) matches.

Contacted for a comment, Chicken Inn secretary-general Tavengwa Hara could neither confirm nor deny Kwashi’s re-assignment.

“The club will soon come out with a statement with regards to any structural adjustments happening at the team from the junior to senior teams,” said Hara.

Chicken Inn have managed to collect 12 points after two wins, six draws and four defeats from 12 outings.

“It’s disappointing. We have been struggling at home,” said Antipas.

Gamecocks, who have played six home games, are yet to collect maximum points at home. The two wins collected were against Dynamos and Kwekwe on the road.
