Chicken Inn seek Triangle sweetener to winless streak

THE hunt for a home victory continues for Chicken Inn in the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League. Having played six matches at Luveve Stadium without a win, the Gamecocks will be eager to end this barren run when they face Triangle United this Saturday. Their current standing of 12th on the table with 12 points underscores a season plagued by inconsistent performances.

Last weekend, their clash against Scottland FC at Rufaro Stadium ended in dramatic fashion, abandoned after the referee awarded Scottland a controversial 89th-minute penalty.

“What transpired in Harare was very unfortunate. Football is unpredictable, but it needs good officiating. You can’t work hard all week and get robbed. That said, our focus now is on Triangle United. We’re going out there with the hope of securing our first home victory,” said head coach Joey Antipas.

Triangle United, currently second from bottom with just eight points from 13 games, are reeling from a narrow 1–0 defeat to Manica Diamonds. Under the guidance of Genesis Mangombe — the former Dynamos and Scottland FC boss — the Sugar Boys have managed only two wins, two draws, and nine losses.

Mangombe succeeded the outspoken Luke Masomere, the self-styled “Doctor of Zimbabwean Football,” who led the Lowveld-based side back into the top flight after dominating the Zifa Eastern Region Division One League last year.

But while some teams are battling for survival, all eyes this weekend will be on Ngoni Stadium.

It’s not just a football match. It’s a rivalry reborn and a town’s moment in the spotlight. MWOS vs Scottland — first vs third, fire vs finesse — is shaping up to be the most symbolic clash on this year’s Castle Lager PSL calendar.

Ngoni Stadium is expected to be electric as the still-unbeaten MWOS square off against Scottland FC in what promises to be a fiery, emotionally charged contest between the league’s two most ambitious debutants.

The build-up to this game has been intense, the narratives compelling. And the drama will unfold live on ZTN Prime (Channel 294 on DStv), with extended coverage starting at 2PM. Expect fireworks, passion, and the kind of football that gets talked about for years. This isn’t just about three points — it’s about pride, legacy, and identity.

Our sister TV channel, ZTN Prime, will be at the heart of it all, bringing the glamour, grit, and grandeur of the Flamboyance Derby to homes across the country.

Other Fixtures to Watch
