Chicken Inn 0-0 ZPC Kariba

ZPC KARIBA celebrated a draw against Chicken Inn at Luveve Stadium yesterday, ending their three-season losing streak at the venue.

Chicken Inn assistant coach Fungai Kwashi was disappointed with his side’s recent home performances and their inability to score in their last two games.

He believes that fatigue was a factor, which may have been a result of playing a challenging match against FC Platinum in their previous fixture.

Although Chicken Inn failed to convert their chances, Kwashi called for improved performances in training and for players to take responsibility for their performance on the pitch.

“We have been poor in front of goal at home in our last games. We have to be honest with each other. We didn’t score against Arenel and against ZPC Kariba.

“We need to go back and work even harder than we have been doing in the past. Everything starts on the training ground. We have to put in a shift. We have no excuses and no one to blame than ourselves. We have to keep on pushing and working hard, but we are not happy with ourselves,” said Kwashi.

“The guys were looking a bit tired, maybe it’s because the FC Platinum game was a massive one. It took a lot of energy out of them. But I don’t want to make any excuses for the players as they are paid to play football. We need to do better and give our fans something to smile about.”

ZPC Kariba coach Newton Chitewe was happy with the draw and claimed it felt like a victory against a team with a championship-winning pedigree.

“The Gamecocks are former champions and it is never easy to play against them. It’s not an easy team to come here and get a point. We did well,” he said.

Chitewe felt they could have nicked all three points.

“There were moments when we had control of the game, especially in the first-half. I thought Stanley Ngala should have scored.

We were aiming to get them on the break using the wings, but it was a balanced affair.”
